Matthew Jackson

Matthew Jackson is HOT. He is also an amazing artist, and I am not just saying that because he is painting my portrait as we speak. No, Madame Moselle is not QUITE so vain! Here is what Mr Jackson has to say about himself:

‘As a contemporary painter I am less concerned with producing a recognizable style than handling the mass of ideas and concepts that daily assault me. In these eclectic and vibrant times the reality of an artists influence comes from both his personal history and the mass bombardment of popular culture.

For me, there is no division between the beauty of a traditional beachscape and the austere conceptualism of contemporary abstract art. Low and High Art, each is visually appealing and valid in its own way. Art is only limited when boundaries restrict it.

I love to paint, it frees me from the mundane. The activity of pushing paint around and giving it life is a continual joy for me. I can’t imagine anything more pleasurable.’

You should have a wee poke around here, including a link to a documentary about his journey. Its a corker, promise!
