Decadent Sleaziness

I am sure some of you are still dilly-dallying about what to do this coming long weekend in Sydney — it’s the same dilemma year after year! After a significant break, I am returning to Sleaze Ball this time around. Honestly, the only reason I even considered it is the theme, Decadence, and these posters.

Of course, amongst some of the more conservative and traditional New Mardi Gras membership they caused a bit of confusion and kerfuffle. For a start, there is boobage on the one aimed at girls (left). The shock! The horror!  What kind of real lesbian would actually want to see BREASTS at a party called Sleaze? Not to mention those seedy looking MEN in the background, astride their phallus-like machinery whilst the poor subjugated woman is left to lie on that cold, dirty ground… Oh wait! What? Those are WOMEN on the bikes??? Obviously imitating the menfolk with their leather ‘masculine’ appearance because they have no identity of their own… Blahdyblahdyblah. Think the ‘boys poster’ (right) just bewildered most folk as to what that had to do with decadence, when we all KNOW that decadence always and only looks like an ornate BBC period piece with big powdered wigs and lots of ornate jewellery…

Despite all of this, I am still holding out high hopes for the party now, all based on the posters, and the fact that the extraoridnary Sveta is playing, and Fancy Piece and Dallas are doing numbers and we are planning massive dress-ups with many many many of our neareast and dearest. Bring it on! (And for the record, we ain’t buying this ‘boys room/girls room’ silliness. We’ll be everywhere and anywhere we please!)
