Discarded objects

This is a most apt quote for some of the thinking that I have been doing at the moment, particularly when trying to select items for the altar at the Day of The Dead party my dear friend Kata held. Been wondering a lot about my obsession with documentation and archiving, with mementos and souvenirs, and the value of holding on to items that might well hold you back. Have let a lot of stuff go over the years, and getting better at it, but still hold tight to certain items that probably ought to be discarded:

‘To change skins, evolve into new cycles, I feel one has to learn to discard. If one changes internally, one should not continue to live with the same objects.’ – Anais Nin

(And thanks to my mate Rachel for posting the above quote a few days ago. I wasn’t familiar with it, but it came at a very good time!)
